TOEFL essay: The issue at hand is whether changes in life should be welcomed... #1 (permalink) Tue Oct 20, 2009 12:38 pm   TOEFL essay: The issue at hand is whether changes in life should be welcomed...

The issue at hand is whether changes in life should be welcomed or not. In my view changes should be embraced in any form. This is because it is only through them that a person will experience new things. In the following paragraphs I will explain the reasons for having this view.

First reason I think that changes are necessary is that often people get tired of mundane and monotonous tasks. In order to save one selves from the fatigue, it is always necessary to have some change in life. For example if a sports person keeps engaging himself in sports all the time, sooner or later he will feel fatigue and tend to lose concentration. Same thing happened with cricket team in India. They were playing cricket for last one year continuously, but they could not do well in the recent tournaments. So the solution to problem is to allow players have some change in life. Give them three months break and allow them to have normal life with families, friends. This will also help them in assessing their weak points during leisure time and overcome them.

Second reason I think change is necessary is the opportunities that come with new experiences. For example if a person in charge of a project in a company is given more responsibilities then he/she should accept them. If the performance is good, then he/she might get promotion. So it is always rather beneficial to endeavor new things. Even if things don't pan out in the right direction think of the experience one gains by trying new things.

Finally I believe in change because it is necessary for balance. For example think of what will happen if only one season is present through out the entire year or only days or only nights are present. So change plays an important role in our lives. One has to be ready to accept it and look forward to great experiences.

First reason I think that changes are necessary is that often people get tired of mundane and monotonous tasks. In order to save one-self from fatigue, it is always necessary to have some change in life.

For example, if a sports person keeps engaging himself in sports all (of) the time, sooner or later he will feel fatigue(d) and tend to lose concentration.
The same thing happened with (our) cricket team in India.
They were playing cricket for ( the whole of)last year continuously, but they could not do well in the recent tournaments.
So the solution to (this) problem is to allow players (to) have some change(s) in (their lives). Give them three months break, and allow them to have normal (lives) with (their) families (and) friends.
This will also help them in assessing their weak points during leisure time and (to) overcome them.

Second reason I think change is necessary, is the opportunities that come with new experiences.
For example, if a person in charge of a project in a company is given more responsibilities, then he/she should accept them.
If the performance is good, then he/she might get promotion.
So it is always rather beneficial to (attempt) new things. Even if things don't pan out in the right direction.
Think of the experience one gains by trying new things.

Finally, I believe in change because it is necessary for balance.
For example, think of what (would) happen if only one season (was) present throughout the entire year, or (if) only days or only nights (were) present.

So change (does) play an important role in our lives. One has to be ready to accept it and look forward to great experiences.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One must accept change as inevitable. Without change there can be no progress.

Good essay Sandy.
