You are from Hangzhou, China?! I am not good at writing, but I think if you could supply some details, examples to support your ideas, it would be better. The structure is clear. |

Nowadays, lots of Chinese are studying in USA. You seem to be very familiar with Hangzhou, also the first one being interest in it. Foreigners usually do not recognize names of provinces in China. So, I have taken a brave guess. Your location appeared in your profile is LA, USA. Do you mind telling me your nationality, Svbla? _________________ It will sure be a lot of fun here to make friends with you guys. |

Hey Naiverock, I'm not skilled enough to correct your essay. Let's have other professionals read it. Anyway, your essay is pretty good as far as I can tell. I like it |

[quote="Naiverock"]Topic: What are the characteristics of a good teacher? --------- Teachers, as an important part of the education system, are carrying the burden (of) (transforming) teenagers (into) mature grown-ups, bearing the obligation to spread knowledge and human value to (the) next generation. Teachers are (the) second parents of students. Their characteristics and behaviors have a deep impact on students. So, what good characteristics should all teachers have in common?
In my opinion, the foremost characteristic should be genuineness. Being genuine to their students means treating students as equals and friends, showing students all the knowledge (that the) students want to know and they (themselves) have learnt, telling students 'sorry, I don't know' when they are not sure of answers.
Being genuine and honest is the most important (of) human personalities. Teachers must set examples to their students and send them the information (as to) what kind a person they should become.
The second crucial characteristic, I think, is being knowledgeable. Teachers must have a great grasp of professional science, human history, communication skills, and justice and principles, so that they can (help) their students (to) have the abilities to master various crafts, and methods of how to deal with other people, and how to handle problems from the objective world. Thus, teachers can send their students the message of how to be a good person.
The third characteristic (that) I (personally) appreciate (so very)much is patience. Only with this disposition can a teacher arrive at (their) students' hearts and open a window for them to absorb the content (they are) trying to transfer/transmit.. Only (by having) this (characteristic) can a teacher bear (the) thousands of expectations and wishes from parents, and make all of their trust worthwhile, and all (of their) dreams come true. Only with patience and self-discipline can a teacher (do) her/his duty for decades and win the title as a teacher, (an) educator and a mentor. Of course, there are many other good characteristics of (being a human being that) a good teacher should have, but the three mentioned above are what I value most: genuine, knowledgeable and patient. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think this is an excellent essay, displaying more than just casual thoughts. You should do really well if you continue to think and write in this fashion.

Thank you so much for your correction and encouragement, Kits. Also thanks for your comments, Kedinvent and Svbla. They mean a lot to me. Though I have pondered a lot upon this familiar topic, and even reviewed this essay once, I still made so many grammatical errors. I guess lacking of practice on writing is the utmost reason for my limitation. I will try to write more.
Kitos, may I ask whether some examples and specific should be added more into my essay, yet? _________________ It will sure be a lot of fun here to make friends with you guys. |

Good morning Naiverock, I find your essay to be excellent. I am NOT a teacher, but I would be delighted to have such a good grasp of a foreign language as you have of English.
Maybe you would be even better with addition vocabulary "under your belt", as this can lead to your writing even more interesting essays, but as a man-in-the-street, I would be amazed to be shown this essay and be to told it was written by a non-native Brit.
Your essay, as it stands is excellent, but would obviously benefit from more examples providing they are relevant to your topic.
Very well done.

Good afternoon, Kitos, It's always so kind of you. I find it sort of difficult to put in examples, because I would need three examples relevant and appropriate so that the structure of my essay won't be damaged. Maybe, I will ameliorate it when some appropriate examples come into my mind. Anyway, thank you, Kitos. _________________ It will sure be a lot of fun here to make friends with you guys. |
