Teachers, as an important part of the education system, are carrying the burden to transform teenagers to mature grown-ups, bearing the obligation to spread knowledge and human value to next generation. Teachers are second parents of students. Their characteristics and behaviors have a deep impact on students. So, what good characteristics should all teachers have in common?

In my opinion, the foremost characteristic should be genuineness. Being genuine to their students means treating students as equals and friends, showing students all the knowledge students want to know and they have learnt, telling students 'sorry, I don't know' when they are not sure of answers. Being genuine and honest is the most important human personality that teachers must set examples to their students and send them the information of what kind a person they should become.

The second crucial characteristic, I think, is being full of knowledge. Teachers must have a great grasp of professional science, human history, communication skills and justice and principles, so that they can make their students have the abilities to master various crafts and methods of how to deal with other people and how to handle problems from the objective world. Thus, teachers can sends their students the message of how to be a good person.

The third characteristic I appreciate much is patience. Only with this disposition can a teacher arrive at her/his students' hearts and open a window for them to absorb the content she/he is trying to transfer. Only with this nature can a teacher bear thousands of expectation and wishes from parents and make all the trust worthy and all the dreams come true. Only with patience and self-discipline can a teacher does her/his duty for decades of years and win the title as a teacher, a educator and a mentor.

Of course, there are many other good characteristics of human a good teacher should have. But, the three mentioned above are what I value most: genuine, full of knowledge and patient.

Though I have pondered a lot upon this familiar topic, and even reviewed this essay once, I still made so many grammatical errors. I guess lacking of practice on writing is the utmost reason for my limitation. I will try to write more.

Good morning Naiverock, I find your essay to be excellent. I am NOT a teacher, but I would be delighted to have such a good grasp of a foreign language as you have of English.

Maybe you would be even better with addition vocabulary "under your belt", as this can lead to your writing even more interesting essays, but as a man-in-the-street, I would be amazed to be shown this essay and be to told it was written by a non-native Brit.

Your essay, as it stands is excellent, but would obviously benefit from more examples providing they are relevant to your topic.

I find it sort of difficult to put in examples, because I would need three examples relevant and appropriate so that the structure of my essay won't be damaged.
