Hi, I am Nauro, fifty-five years old, marriaged, three sons, thim and tall, with hair - not bald -, sedenctary, doctor - physician for 31 years, my family is nice. Until my 40s I understand nothing about english, no reading, no listening, no writing, no speaking. I did not understand anything and so did not study in english. I had a great dificulty abaut this language, so I started reading with the dictionary beside. At the begining was hard, I took hours to translate a text, but after consult the dictionary thousands of times I began to understand a bit. I bought a course - books and tapes - and did the begining to the end, incredible. My vocabulary increase very much, I know thousands of words, but my listening is awful, I do not understant anything. Nowadays I read in english very well, but it is all. So I am trying to learn listening. For the moment it is what I want to say. thanks, Nauro. |

Barbara It will take you a lot time to test whether you fit for the job as a teacher. Bless you.
Nauro, welcome here. Thank you for sharing stories. It demonstrates that it's never too old to learn. It really means a lot to many ESLers. Hope the listening practice in this forum will help you. _________________ It will sure be a lot of fun here to make friends with you guys. |
