How do you translate einen Konkurrenten aus dem Markt verdrängen? #1 (permalink) Thu Oct 29, 2009 19:50 pm   How do you translate einen Konkurrenten aus dem Markt verdrängen?

Hi, what would be a good English equivalent to einen Konkurrenten vom Markt drängen oder aus dem Markt verdrängen?

One phrase I can think is to get the edge over a competitor but there must be something closer.

Many thanks,
Torsten

- to push a competitor out of the market
- to oust a competitor (perhaps originally a metaphor from sports)
- to out-compete someone (not exactly the same)
- to dislodge a competitor (not exactly the same)
- to drive a competitor out of business (not exactly the same)
