Dear Teachers, I would like to agree too but I don't know the difference between "therefore" and "therefor"; so would you kandly explain to me such a difference ? Thank in advance, Lillo. |

The difference is clear enough in a DICTIONARY, Lillo. Have you tried that? _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

Dear Mister Micawber, In effect I'm feeling a bit foolish indeed. As a matter of fact I've just looked up in a dictionary and now the difference is clearly noticed. Let me apologize for the useless question made. Best regards, Lillo. |

Don't feel bad, Lillo. I had to look them up, too, before I answered the question. Since joining this forum, I have used my dictionary far more than I ever used to do. _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

| Mister Micawber, I need and love dictionaries, too, but I still wonder if there is a good one for me, maybe a little "bigger" one, I suppose. Would you mind recommending a few for me? Thank you. |

Hi Philin,
I could recommend one in particular:
The Advanced Learner's Dictionary of Current English published by Oxford University Press. One of its good features is that it not only explains a word but also shows how it is used in a sentence.
