Hi,

Is "therefore" correct in the following context?

Quote:
In the event that the Company has provided extra necessary procedures and/or work which exceed a usual range upon the Shipper's or Consignee’s request, the Shipper or the Consignee, whoever requested, shall pay the fee therefore to the Company in addition to the "Door to Door Rate".

I feel "therefor" not "therefore" would be better.

Thanks.
Philin

Dear Teachers, I would like to agree too but I don't know the difference between "therefore" and "therefor"; so would you kandly explain to me such a difference ?
Thank in advance, Lillo.

The difference is clear enough in a DICTIONARY, Lillo. Have you tried that?

Dear Mister Micawber, In effect I'm feeling a bit foolish indeed. As a matter of fact I've just looked up in a dictionary and now the difference is clearly noticed.
Let me apologize for the useless question made.
Best regards, Lillo.

Don't feel bad, Lillo. I had to look them up, too, before I answered the question. Since joining this forum, I have used my dictionary far more than I ever used to do.

Mister Micawber, I need and love dictionaries, too, but I still wonder if there is a good one for me, maybe a little "bigger" one, I suppose. Would you mind recommending a few for me? Thank you.

Hi Philin,

I could recommend one in particular:

The Advanced Learner's Dictionary of Current English published by Oxford University Press. One of its good features is that it not only explains a word but also shows how it is used in a sentence.
