Hi,

Could anyone shed a light on the last two lines from the Sonnet 1:

Quote:
Pity the world, or else this glutton be,
To eat the world's due, by the grave and thee.

1) Is the "thou" or the reader "pity the world"?
2) Who "to eat the world's due? and does 'by' refer to "by means of"?

Thanks.
Philin

1-- I see no 'thou'. 'Thee' is the young woman being addressed.
2-- The young woman-- and Death-- are accused of eating what the world is due (the eating is by her and Death).
