support/oppose the building of a factory near a community? #1 (permalink) Sat Oct 31, 2009 6:04 am   support/oppose the building of a factory near a community?

A company has announced that it wishes to build a factory near your community. Discuss the advantages and dis advantages of new influence on your community. Do you support or oppose the factory? explain your position.

response:

Nowadays, because of the industrialization there are more and more factories have been built. This trend always affects the communities near these factories more or less. As far as I am concerned, I do not support the building of a factory near my community because it harms the environment and social life of the local residents.

First of all, factories bring pollution to my community. The residents have to suffer the noise and dust during the constructing process. In addition, though the factories try its best to limit the effects on environment, however, there must be smoke, dust, and sewage go into the air and water sources. In consequence, respiration diseases appear to be inevitable. Moreover, in case the amount of sewage and smoke is excessive my community must be poisoned. For example, in my country many people live nearly cigarette factories catch fatal diseases as throat and lung cancer. It is even more serious if the diseases are able to infect the next generations.

On the other hand, a factory spoils the social life of the community close to its location in a serious way. Obviously, there will be a lot of workers that live in your town and they are strangers coming from different religions. As a result, the inhabitant’s life must be influenced. For example, the noise reduces the effect of working and learning. Furthermore, a having a factory often goes together with social evils such as robbing or fighting. Social evils spoil children’s behaviors because they set bad examples and make young adults neglect their study. Finally, the former calm peaceful life will be gone.

In conclusion, a factory goes together with many disadvantages. It harms the environment and our social life; therefore, I maintain that a factory should not be approved to build close to a community.
