Hi, Torsten

I'm not sure whether the sentence below says 2" bigger or smaller , please help explain , thanks beforehand.

[The garment is off spec by as much as - 2" at the waist ]

Hi Pauline,

On the face of it, it could be either. To use 'off spec' is unusual when talking about clothes. I would think it better to say: Out by 2 inches - and that could be bigger or smaller, too.

Yes, it is talking about clothes, at the first face , I thought it 2" smaller than spec, but after re-measured the garment, got 2" bigger than spec, that's why I was confused, all is clear now, Thanks.

It appears to be "minus" two inches, therefore, smaller.
