Countries should not isolate themselves from the world instead engage other... #1 (permalink) Sun Nov 01, 2009 7:05 am   Countries should not isolate themselves from the world instead engage other...

Countries should not isolate themselves from the world instead engage other countries. Do you agree or not?

The topic under light is which policy should countries adapt regarding maintaining relationships with other countries. Either they can isolate themselves from the rest of the world or they can engage other countries. In my view, they should engage others (countries) because in this ever changing world, support from kins(other countries) is like armour to the country. This is also important because it is not concerned with one individual or other but with the entire nation.

Firstly, I think every country should make bilateral relationships with others because of many advantages. One advantage is the trade. If the relations between countries are good, then trade will also burgeon. For example, take the case of the US and India. Both have very good relationships and they outsource the business mutually there by benefiting both. If either of them think of isolating one self from others, then there is no chance of trading.

Secondly, a country has to maintain good relations for help and protection. It is only through engaging other countries that a county can maintain a position to get help. For example, take Pakistan and the US. Both have good connections. In the present difficult times, Pakistan is getting aid from the US for averting precarious situation. If Pakistan has isolated themselves from the world, then there is zero probability of getting help from others.

Thirdly, a country should not isolate itself so that peace can be maintained. For example, take North Korea, the way that country is tackling issues related to nuclear power plants is not welcomed by the rest of the world. So there has been a everlasting suspicion that the country can attack at any time. So each time there is information that a nuclear activity is building in that country, other countries will be alert and ready to take on. Isolation is one of the hindrances to world peace.

Finally, I think every country has strong areas and weak areas. Just by being strong in one or more, countries should not isolate themselves from the world. I think maintaining good relations should be at the top of the to do list of any country. This is as important for country's survival also. As the saying goes,” United we stand, divided we fall”. All countries should unite so that there will be ever lasting peace and joy.
