Another load of rubbish. (Bored.) #1 (permalink) Sun Nov 01, 2009 14:30 pm   Another load of rubbish. (Bored.)

You mighty oaks, how tall you stood,
The tallest trees in all the wood.
You oaks in whose glorious pasts.
Have graced sea vessels with their masts.

But now you stand in peace it seems,
We drowse beneath you with our dreams.
Our dreams of days spent in the past,
The days that always seemed to last.

But now you've gone, will be no more,
Because they've felled you to the floor.
You, who stood the test of time,
No longer needed, what a crime.

One day they'll rue, this action bold,
For you were worth, your weight in gold.
But time won't wait, not for a tree,
Just how stupid can they be?

-------------------------------------------
The sun came early through the dark night and set the trees ablaze with its golden rays.
The paths were littered with the fallen leaves of the many trees that line the walkways through the graves of the departed.

The little robins, busy turning the leaves in their search for worms, paid me no heed as I walked slowly along the well-trodden paths, for they know me, and I know them, their homes and families, for this has been my morning routine for many months now, from the early Spring until early November.

I have seen all manner of things on my early morning walks.
Things that others have never seen, for I am an early bird, and in the warmth of Summer I have often taken this walk at four a.m.
I've seen the trooping of the tiny frogs, from the damp grass back into the small lake that marks the centre of the cemetery.

I've seen the young deer that sleep the day away in the long bull-rushes and only appear during the night and early morning.

I've watched squirrels hiding their Winter stores, and many other sights that most would never believe if you were to tell them.

I know the nesting places of all of the birds, even that of a tiny Golden Crested wren.
I've seen foxes hunting rabbits in the dense undergrowth.
I've even taken a stray horse back to the main gates and tied it there for its anxious owner to recover.

It certainly isn't dull in our local cemetery!
------------------------------------------------

The sun came slowly into sight,
And chased the night away.
I raised my eyes up to the sky,
To greet a brand-new day.
For every day is another chance,
A chance to make things right.
So make amends to those you've hurt,
Before you sleep tonight.

Kitos.
