Hi,

What is TV like in your country? Do you watch a lot? Here in the UK there seem to be endless quizzes and competitions and programmes telling you how to cook. It makes you long for some enlightenment.

TV has emerged as one of the biggest sources of entertainment in the last few years. I can't imagine a house without a TV. Everyone's got one.

As for the shows that you get to watch on TV here in my country, it's primarily dancing and singing competitions. They are called reality shows. Nothing seems to be real, though.

A bunch of goofy participants take part in the so-called talent shows. There's less dancing/singing and more drama. A few participants are asked to tumble and fall to the ground while dancing so the show-makers can create a big drama out of it.

First, the dancer trips over and everything comes to a halt - the music is stopped, the roaring of the audience subsides and everyone's got one of those pity-filled oh-poor-boy/girl looks on their faces.

Now the dancer starts crying, followed by the female judges, if any, and a few sorry souls in the audience. The anchor of the show then butts in and says a few encouraging words to the crying participant. Truck-load of horse manure.

I prefer watching Discovery Channel, NGC, Travel & Living and occasionally movie channels
