Topic: It is generally agreed that society benefits from the work of its members. Compare the contributions of artists to society with the contributions of scientists to society. Which type of contribution is valued more by your society? Give specific reasons to support your answer.

The society obviously benefits from the impacts of its members. And two groups of the main contributors are artists and scientists.
No doubt, both scientists and artists try to satisfy the people’s needs and wants. They are obviously different types of people and that is why they use different ways to work for the society.
The scientists’ impact is connected with many sides of people’s lives. They improve our technology, medicine and the other branches of science. These people help us to know a lot of different things about the world we live in, about each other, about the forces of nature.
But to my mind some riddles shouldn’t be solved and some inventions shouldn’t have been created. Let’s think about an invention of an atom bomb or chemical weapons. And who knows what is going to happen if our science develops this way. That’s why I think that the impact of scientists is good when it helps people, but on the other hand we have to remember that science can be very dangerous for all the mankind.
In reference to artists, it’s worth mentioning that they deal with the thing science can’t reach. I mean a human soul. Science can cure your physical pain, can help you to make your work easier, but only art can make you happy, relaxed and easy-going. Artists can express different emotions. And their talent is often considered to be a God’s gift. I think it makes sense. That’s why a lot of people like art, they visit galleries and have paintings at home.
Therefore, I believe that artists’ contribution to society is valued more, because it can’t harm the mankind as opposed to science. But it makes us feel. And emotions are the thing that makes us human.
