I've never heard about a magic method that someone can use to speak English fluently in a year. Don't be hurrid. English is a process and it takes at least 3 years to speak as proficient. But there're tools you need to carry with you in order to achieve your goal: motivation, interest, English books. You also have to real a lot, listen radio (Bbc), whatch a English movie with subtitle, ect. These are the ways I follow to achieve my goals.

Well, I personally think it is within reach if you are talking about a year of intensive studying.

I don't think listening to BBC is helpful, Tomasito. The English used there is obviously very hard. It won't be that interesting to listen to things you don't know. In fact this will be a huge struggle and you will certainly lose heart.

I personally recommend that you listen and read to simple English, and it would be great if you have transcripts of what you are listening to. There are many websites that offers that for free.

Good luck.

I agree with you tofita. In the beggining is difficult to hear what they say. When I started to study intensively the English pronouncition I used to read and listen the podcasts provided by the brittish council. This was method I used to familiarize with the brittish accent. I don't think they speak very fast.

Happytofita is right.
I find learning a new language is a lengthy process. It would be tough in such a short time span. However, It depends heavily on your learning abilities, which vary from person to person. I believe that 1 year is long enough to learn If you really want to learn. See that how much time would you want to spend ...5/8/10/15 hours a day? It would make a huge difference.
I'm studying 10 hours a day in addition to what I have learned before in institutions, university and schools

Hi Tom...How are you doing?

Dear Tom and Happytofita
Please don't post a piece of writing just for the sake of passing a comment. Please concentrate on what you are typing and do your best to write without making a mistake. Nobody knows everything so there is nothing to be worried about.
Especially you Happytofita (I don't know what your name is)...just take a look at you profile: (Posts: 670) you are an old user, however, it doesn't show that one is proficient in English. Guys! help me whenever you think you can.
click on these links and see that nobody mentioned what my mistakes was, so I had to correct my own sentences.

Hi Ricardovd,

I agree that learning a new language is a lengthy process, as Richard said. It takes time to learn everything. It is especially hard when you want to get a master level of English just in one year. But I believe that your English will improve much after one year if you study hard every day. And it would be much more convenient for you if you live in a country where people speak English. This could help you study English easier. I myself wish that one day I could read books and news in English, and write essays in English as well. You know? I have tried to study English hard for years. Although my English has been improving much, but it is still not good as my wish.

I am very happy that a friend told me about this site, so I can study English with many good friends who are ready to help me anytime. I have made a plan (an Everest) to achieve my goal in learning English. Every day I take at least 3 new tests, listen to audio lessons in 40, 50 minutes and write at least 300 words. Besides I try to read participants' essays in the forum. If there is any essay attracts my attention I will save it by typing it. Your question is interesting because you asked about "What is the best method of study if exists to master English language in a period of time of one year? Trying to respond your question is also a good way to improve my English. So thank you very much.

Be patient! Study hard! Your dream will become true one day. Good luck!

Hoa

Hi all,
To me learning the English language does not require a specified duration. What matters most is you devotedness and interest in the language.

Some members at this forum testy that they have live in English speaking countries but still yet unable to express themselves in the language.

Learning the English language entails one has a good mastery in; reading, listening, speaking and the writing skills which can only be achieve through; courage, determination and interest.

Hi Nzuahp,

I have heard a saying "Practice doesn't make perfect, only perfect practice makes perfect." What do you think about this, Nzuahp?

I have spoken, read and written English for my whole lifetime, yet there are so many things about the English language to which I am a complete stranger.

OK, maybe I have forgotten a lot from my school-days, but that was nearly sixty years ago.

I believe that it is possible to become an excellent speaker, reader and writer of English within a year, provided that your expectations are not too great.

If you are looking to gain a Masters degree, then good luck to you, you'll need it!.

But, if your wish is to speak, and to understand whatever is said to you by an English speaker, then it is well within the capabilities of all of the pupils here on ESL.net

All that is required is a patient, tolerant teacher, and an apt, interested student.

Twelve months later;

Wallah!... one Englishman/woman.

Kitos.
