According to the below dictionaries...

Collins COBUILD Advanced Learner's Dictionary 5th Edition
An RV is a van which is equipped with such things as beds and cooking equipment, so that people can live in it, usually while they are on holiday. RV is an abbreviation for 'recreational vehicle'.

Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary
RV /ˌɑːˈviː/ ABBREVIATION FOR recreational vehicle: a motor-home.
recreational vehicle noun [C] (ABBREVIATION RV) US FOR motor-home
