People should read books that are about real events, real people and established #1 (permalink) Tue Nov 10, 2009 18:56 pm   People should read books that are about real events, real people and established

Articles or books about real events, real people and established facts are very important to us those who live in the real world as those are the reflections of our own nature. Hence I strongly support to the idea that people should read books that are about real events, real people and established facts. I would like to strengthen my view giving three different points.

First of all, as I mentioned before those articles about real people, events and facts reflect our own nature. It is advantages to be well known about our nature. If we were well known about the people around us or were aware of the place where we are in, It is very easy to deal with them and with the place. If we were known that we are in a place where there is a high risk of caught in to a hurricane or tsunami, we could be ready for that. Especially as a expatriate who lives in a another country it is better to be aware of these kind of situations. In that case books are very important as a material for reading.

Secondly, there are a lot of books have been published all around the world about the people who had invented great things like light bulb, telecommunication, radio etc. These events are very important and it motivates our minds to do the same thing like them. That's why all these biographies of famous people are included in reading materials in schools. It helps students to awake their own abilities and hidden skills.

Thirdly,it is good to have a vast knowledge about different people and events all around the world. If we know more, we can talk more about these things with others. No one would like to talk about fictions. All like to talk about the real world. When we meet friends we will have something to talk about if we know about the world. If we give more realistic opinions in a discussion, a debate or a talk all people who hear it will eventually believe that we have a great knowledge and definitely they will respect us. They would never admire fictitious talks.

All of these reasons that I have mentioned so far, I Strongly believe it is worth to read books about real people, real events and established facts as all these real readings reflects not the fictions that someone is dreaming of but the real situations that we are dealing with everyday life.

facts as all these real readings reflects(reflect)

Why you have used past tenses for overwhelming majority of your sentences?(take a look at your first paragraph!)Use present tenses
Ignore my suggestions when you feel the need to.
Let me know if you have any suggestion.
Good luck with your writing my friend.

Yep Richard! I registered for the Dec 11th TOEFL IBT. I'm really worried as I'm really weak in writing. The problem is good ideas and words don't come to my mind as I begin writing. Hope to develop my skills! Smile

Thanks for your help!

As I remember you are also taking TOEFL in December. Rite? I am sure that you will get a good score!

Good luck!
