In my opinion, the most important animal in my country is THE dragon. According to the Chinese culture, THE dragon is the icon of power, luck, and happiness, which is so different compared with Western culture. It is one typical and meaningful part of 5000-year Chinese culture.
In ancient Chinese documentS, THE dragon is painted as HAVING; A DEER'S head, snake’s body, eagle’s wingS and crocodile’s feet. Some scientists believe that THE dragon is AN imaginary creature, which is unreal. However, there IS still evidence of dragon’s existing in old Chinese’s books, in which dragonS ARE described as scary and dangerous animalS. After many years’ OF research, some people believe that A dragon is A combination of A crocodile and fairy tales. And I am in favoUr of this theory.
We, Chinese, are called the decentANTS of dragonS, and AS A part of our culture, we are proud of being CALLED that. It encourages us to be uniteD, harmonIOUS, and carING about THE people around us. The ancient emperors of China are defined as the sonS of dragonS, and only they could wear clothes painted with dragonS. This indicateD their great, undeniable and irreplaceable power, which used to be glorIOUS and unimaginable to the general PUBLIC. However, this concept HAS completely changed these days, and THE dragon is not that unreachable thing any LONGER. We ALL have the right to wear clothes ILLUSTRATING dragonS, WE CAN hang the picture of A dragon and WE CAN even call ourselves the sonS of dragonS. All of that indicateS THAT we have equal power and rights as any other people.
THE dragon is NO LONGER a taboo to the general Chinese any more.
You may see a lot sculptures, paintings or Many other forms of decoration DEPICTING dragonS in Chinese people’s homeS. In our mind, it is not just a simple collection, but also the wish of wealth, health and happiness. We believe that THE dragon can bring us good luck and make our wishES come true.
To sum up, THE dragon is the most important animal in my country, although it does not exist as we ONCE imagined. It IS REPRESENTATIVE OF OUR ancient Chinese culture and our best wishes FOR OUR lives. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- An excellent essay Annie, spoiled only be silly basic mistakes. Read it through once or twice and familiarise yourself with the English forms. A great essay though!
