There is no computer in the room. There isn't a computer in the room. There are no computers in the room.
Good morning Yuri. All three are valid. _________________ Keep it simple ... Keep it interesting. |

Hi Kitosdad,I haven't heard from you for ages. One more point: if I say "There is not (isn't) a computer in the room" must I keep in mind that there is not a computer in the room but anything else that I have taken for a computer?
Regards,

It is because of my Russian mind, Kitos. In my question I followed the next chain. When we indentify something we may say, for example, "This is not a book. This is a notebook." I thought if that was so why not say "There is not a computer in the room. There is another device." In other words I thought that the sentences "There is no computer in the room" and "There is not a computer in the room" had different meanings. Do you understand me now, Kitos? If I were a native speaker I would express my thoughts better.
Best regards again,
