Piece of writing: In my opinion, shopping can be both enjoyable and annoying... #1 (permalink) Sat Nov 14, 2009 20:39 pm   Piece of writing: In my opinion, shopping can be both enjoyable and annoying...

Hi!
My friend asked me to proofread his essay. I've checked it, however the following excerpt from the essay seems to contain some awkwardly worded sentences. Since I am not a native speaker, I may well be wrong. Therefore I'd like to ask anyone willing to help to check the excerpt. (I have underlined the words or phrases, which I consider confusing).

"In my opinion, shopping can be both enjoyable and annoying. Emotions evoked by shopping can vary depending on many factors: the amount of money and time available, the type of goods one has to buy, etc. I like food shopping and enjoy doing it very much, since I have a passion for cooking. However, like most men, I hate shopping for clothes, for I find it time and money consuming. Nowadays there are many various ways to shop for goods, and shopping online is one of them. It is time and money consuming, and thus its efficiency is beyond doubt, however it is not very convenient to buy clothes online because you cannot try them on and may well confuse sizes".
Thanks in advance!

I find nothing wrong with the underlined phrases. Here are some problems:

'there are (many / various) ways'-- Choose one of the adjectives; don't use both.
' It is time and money consuming, and thus its efficiency is beyond doubt'-- The logic is faulty and the repetition of the awkward phrase 'time- and money-consuming' should be re-cast.
