Request to correct the mistakes in an application. #1 (permalink) Fri Nov 20, 2009 12:47 pm   Request to correct the mistakes in an application.

Hello world,

Considering myself a part of this great English learning community, I want to request the experts to help me out with my problem. I'm a high school student and I belong to a non-English country. I've been trying to improve my English vocabulary and grammar for the past two years. I've written an application to the Principal of my college. I'm sure I would have made many grammar, vocabulary and punctuations mistakes in it. I shall be very thankful to anyone who could help me making it a perfect application. Here is the application that I've written:

Quote:
The Principal,
ABC.

Dear Sir,

With all due respect, I'm writing this application to make a humble request. Actually a week ago, I was wearing a sky blue color sweat jacket in the college. I wasn't aware of the fact that students of 1st year are not allowed to wear such type/color of garments in the college which are irrelevant to the college uniform. When the discipline officer saw me wearing that jacket, he made me aware that I am not allowed to wear such kind/color of jacket in the college because it's not the part of the proper college uniform. I took-off that jacket for the time being and assumed that I could wear it in the break-time period and I did so, because I was having cold and flu in those days. But Later on, my assumption got proved wrong, when sir Rauf asked me to handover that jacket to him and told me that it will not be given back to me; which in my opinion is quite unfair.

I'm a good student of my class. I have been chosen as the subject adviser of 'Computer Science' and the proctor of my class. Also, I have been coming in the proper uniform for more than a week. Sir, I made this mistake unknowingly, so it's my kind request that my jacket shall be given back to me. I promise that I'll try my best not to repeat such sort of mistake in the future.

I shall be very grateful to you for this great favor.

Yours obediently,
XYZ.

Hello,
Here you're my suggestions:

**because I had caught cold and flu in those days." may be better"

**hand over. " two words"

** that it would not be given back to me;

** which, in my opinion,is quite unfair.

** I'm a good student at/ in my class.

** I'll try/ do my best not to repeat such sort of mistakes in the future.

You really expressed yourself very well. Your writting is quite perfect.

Keep up practicing hard.
