Checking over the definition of "post" on TheFreeDictionary.com, all references regarding mailing/letters/packages have "post" as a transitive verb, that is, you always have to post something (optionally to someone).
This would deem "I post to her" incorrect. (At least without context; "To whom do you post letters?"--"I post to her"/"I post them to her", well, ok..)

But me/you/her/him/it/us/them can incorporate the sense of "targeting" depending on its position, "give me that, give it to me!", so, as a conclusion:
1) I post her a letter - correct
1b) I post a letter to her - correct
2) I post to her - incorrect (if without context)

Forum-posted cheers!
Planta.
