Do Universities look for a recent GRE® score?

Hello people

I'm currently doing my 2nd year of engineering (Btech) in a college in Karnataka, India and i was wondering if its too early for me to give the GRE after my 2nd year?

I know that the score is valid for 5 years but my question really is if universities will look for a more recent score when i apply ( most likely fall of 2011)..
