hi, i'm just thinking of a cool nickname and have come across this one: hipster. how could you please tell me whether or not this word is still used? Or is it out of date? Don't want to look like an old fashioned guy :) thank you all you hipsters!

It came in with the Jazz Age, and is still around for those still into jazz, I suppose. To my mind, it is out of date, but still understandable, and kind of catchy-- and it is the source of hippy, a more modern but also obsolescent word, as the members of its generation age and expire.

Not worth changing your moniker, hepcat.
