So often do you use the word 'dandy' meaning 'great' or 'cheerful'? I remember the Cranberries had a song called 'Desperate Andy' in which they used the word 'dandy' pretty often.

Many thanks,
Torsten

Not so often; sometimes ironically: 'Oh, that's just dandy!' when a calamity has befallen.

I never use it, but my dad used it a lot. It's about 50 years older than "swell".

You probably mean 'listening to the Cranberries'?

Hi everyone,

"Dandy" is a very interesting word. I actually do use it, probably more than most people. For me, "dandy" is a fun word to use when talking about a "good time." It's a great word to express sarcasm in a "fun" way.
