Change one important thing about my hometown #1 (permalink) Tue Nov 24, 2009 3:42 am   Change one important thing about my hometown

If I could change one important thing about my hometown, what would you change? Some people want to have a new park where family could spend weekends. Others prefer to build a company which will resolve the unemployment issue. As far as I’m concerned, I would set up a good university in my hometown.

First, there isn't any university or college in my hometown right now. We have no choice but to leave our hometown to pursue our education. Lots of my friends and me don't want to leave our parents far away, as we are the only child in the family. We will miss our family and want to take care of our parents especially when they are sick. Besides, some of us would have to travel long way to come back home. It's really a hassle to take the pubulic transportaion to rush to home during the Festival period.

Secondly, building a good university will enhance my hometown's economic development. It is said that Silicon Valley is unalienable with the famous Stanford University which cultivate the most talented elites for the technical companies. I believe the university will fulfill the human resource needs which are crucial for development in the information era. Hence, It will attract lots of company set down in my hometown. Not only decrease the unemployment rate in my hometown, the company tax will definitely contribute to our economic development. We collage students don’t have to go far away in pursuit of a decent job.

Last but not the least; a good university could make my community more appealing to residents. With the percent of highly educated people of total increasing, the community will be more civilized. Other assorted of recreation amenities, such as museum , theatre and so on, would be set up. More people would like to relocate to this wonderful city. Life in this community would be more colorful and prosperous.

All in all, there are lots of benefits to build a good university in my hometown. If I could change one important thing about my hometown, I would not hesitate to build a good university.

Thanks for editing my essay in advance.
