Hi everybody,
It is morning here in Hanoi. So I wish a very good morning to all of you.
Today it is cold in Hanoi. It is grey and dry. Although it is nearly 11 a.m. now, but it has not any sunny light outside. It is a very normal day in the winter in Vietnam. Anyway, I do not think this kind of weather affects my mood much. Right now, I am feeling good because I am enjoying my time by talking with you all about an interesting topic “The weather and your mood.”
In my opinion, the mood affects the way a person looks at things, rather than the weather affects his mood. For example, if a person is in a good mood, whatever the weather is, it can’t make he/ she feel upset or bad. Maybe he/ she even can think or tell something full of humor about the bad of the weather, or he/ she can make fun of it.
On the contrary, when a person is in a bad mood he/ she can’t enjoy the beautiful landscape, even at that time he/she is standing in front of a very nice place. Nguyen Du, a Vietnamese poet described this well in the sentence “Người buồn cảnh có vui đâu bao giờ.” (A person, who is sad never feels cheerful when he sees a beautiful landscape.) It means when someone is in a bad mood nothing can make him feel good. Van Gogh, the great Post Impressionist artist had painted a lot of paintings, which were full of bright colors, but the viewers only feel the deep sadness and despair from his artworks.
However, the mood of a person can be affected by the weather as well. A nice weather can make a person feels cheerful and optimistic. The weather is considered as the beauty, which is given to us by nature. From my point of view, every kind of the weather has its own beauty. Spring, summer, autumn and winter, the four seasons give us many different states of the weather. Natural climate is one of the most marvelous things in the world.
I have just shared with you some of my thoughts about this topic. What do you think about it? Hope to hear from you soon. I believe that you have many interesting ideas to share with me. Thank you.
Have a nice day! Hoado _________________ Hoadong |

Hello everyone,
I have just discovered that people here are talking about weather in their countries or places where they currently live and decided to write about what the weather is like in my country.
There is a say in my country that "you can see the four seasons in Turkey at the same time" which means while a place is still covered by snow people can swim in the Mediterrenean or any other sea. Of course this is not enough to describe what the weather looks like in my country and especially in the city where I am living.
Along with four main seasons we have seasons trainsitions as well and they affect the people nature as they do the nature too. For me the transition periods make me a bit more lazy.
Personally speaking, I like every season and believe their necessities in favour of nature cycle.
That is all for the time being. By the way, I am bound to admit that I am impressed by Huang and Yuri so much. I would appreciate if they share their methods with me.
Regards |

Hi all ! Here the weather is strange - yesterday was snowy, today the sun shone. The only thing which hasn't changed since the beginning of December is the constant light wind. After 1st of January I've been starting to learn my studies in physics, use of computers and electrical material. These are my 3 exams.I'd rather prefer to have more free time but the exams are coming. Whilst I was watching how the snow fell the day before, I really appreciated the calmness of the nature.I can't describe so good the landscape because there weren't only trees and snow.It is typical of the town. It is very relaxing as well. Bye best wishes. |

Claudia, the weather played the same game at my place : tons of snow got melt just right before Christmas day that was a sunny day ! After that, some snow fell again...Now it's quite cold and cloudy here. It's so plain.
The other day I went to the bushes near here and had a wonderful long walk. For half an hour I stayed still to observe, then I saw a colourful pheasant flying from a bush to another, a fox running around, and heard many small wild birds singing... Are there still many animals on the wood and fields of the pictures you took some weeks ago ?
Borislav, good luck for your exams. Do you like learning Physics ? I wish I were student again :) I remember how happy I was when it was time to study such a wonderful subject ! It opened my mind and made me aware of many natural phenomena of life. |

Hi Hoa & Emir,
Welcome to share with us your opinions and experience. It's interesting to read from you !
Hoa I understand perfectly what you meant by mentioning Nguyen Du's poem. When you are sad deep down inside, even a wonderful lanscape can not cheer you up, because your sadness is so strong that it dominates your whole world. You live in your environment where there are many elements that interact one another, you are just one of them. But you also have your personal interior world. I think the weather can affect your mood or not it depends on the actual dominant element of the moments, and on how sensitive you are.
Emir, what's your home city ? Is it near the sea ? Keep coming and talking with us so that we will surely improve our English together. My method is very simple: I try to speak, write, listen as much as I can and imitate native people as well as excellent learners worldwide.
Have a nice day !
Huong. |

Hello Huong,
I took another walk through the woods yesterday, and heard a woodpecker knocking its beak into a tree for food. There are still a lot of animals here, for example many birds of prey, deer and brown hares. Unfortunately, they run away as soon as they spot a human, so taking pictures of them is difficult to do, lol.
The weather here is cold and grey. Today is a holiday where I live, so I'm going to stay home and enjoy "my castle".

Hi Ms Huong and everybody,
Nice to talk with you in this topic! I am really interested in the weather in Europe because there is snow in winter that isn't in Vietnam. In Vietnam there are 4 seasons, in the North the season differences are very clear. In spring the weather is very warm and wonderful, in summer it is very hot (in some areas the highest temperature is 40 degree centigrade), it is very cool and beautiful in autumn, and it is very cold in winter (the lowest temperature is 0oC, sometimes in Sapa - Lao Cai province it is - 3oC). But in the South, there are only 2 seasons: rainy and sunny. Rainy season lasts 6 months and sunny one does too. And average temperature is from 28 to 35oC. I live in Ho Chi Minh city - The South so I do not have opportunity to feel the coldest weather.
I wish that I would have opportunity to visit any country in Europe to enjoy snow. Would you please describe snow for my understanding?
When I was young I lived in the North, sometimes the weather affected my mood. Because that time I was so romantic, when it was rainy I was a little bit sad. But now I have to focus on working at office, my tasks can not be affected by the weather.
I am really happy if I get your comments and reply.
I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours sincerely, Ms Mai Anh |

Hello Mai Anh,
I would like to give it a try and describe snow for you.
Snow is deceptive. It falls light as feathers from the sky, but if you have to shovel it from the sidewalk, it is very heavy. It covers the fields like a white blanket, but if you lay yourself down on it, you will start to freeze. It sparkles in the sun like a mound of diamonds, but if you put it in your pocket, it will turn to water. It gives you the impression to walk on a cloud, but once you run through it, you will sink in. Snow is beautiful, dangerous and cold.

Hii everybody, Huong did you photo the woodpecker and the hare ? They are really lively and show the peaceful nature. Mai Anh, I live in Europe but if you come here you won't see snow for more than 2-3 days. This winter it thaws recently after falling.I can't describe it to you very clearly but one day the weather is cold and chilly the next day is 20 degrees.Even today in the news announced that there are snowdrops(spring flower) blossomed and the bees have waken up from their winter sleep. It is early spring here. |
