I can’t completely align my self with the statement that reading fictions such as novels and short stories IS more enjoyable than watching movies as I am a big fan of movies. Further, the enjoyment that I gain FROM watching movies cannot be compared to the feeling that I normally attain by reading books. It’s true that reading develops our imagination as well as OUR vocabulary, however, I believe when considering the enjoyment that reading and WATCHING movies bring, movies ARE best.
Movies have effects and views that give the viewer VIRTUAL experiences. Nowadays there are movie theaters that BRING real environmentAL and sound qualities to the viewer, so that they can experience the real situation there in the theater.
However we can’t experience that excitement while reading a book. For instance, I am a big fan of THE Harry Potter series, and I have read all OF the books and SEEN all OF the movies of the series. Of course, the movies are the best source of enjoyment as the graphics and effects were superb. Moreover, I felt that I was involvED in THE character when I SAW it ON a wide screen at the cinema. In contrast, when I read the book I DID NOT HAVE ANY idea about some OF THE places it described. I imagined the situations as best as I COULD, but I found that I was wrong about the places that I had imagined when I saw the movie.
Further, it is fun to WATCH a movie with some friends rather than reading a book alone. Reading is a stoical activity. It needs concentration and A good environment, PLUS A VIVID imagination. As a student I have to deal with my studies everyday. I FIND IT REALLY boring to read a book after BECOMING exhausted from MY studies BY the end of the day. If I can see a movie with my friends or family, it is great. We can discuss the situations that are coming after each circumstances. We can EVEN have a snack while watching. Last but not least, It is really fun to watch a movie WITH many people around rather than reading a book alone.
All in ALL, it’s true that reading has a great value. It increases our imagination and improves our creative ideas and related skills. Nevertheless, when comparing the enjoyment that it gives, it is A somewhat poor source WHEN COMPARED to the movies.
Hence, in conclusion I strongly believe that movies give us more enjoyment IN COMPARISON TO THE LITTLE SATISFACTION THAT I OBTAIN FROM READING BOOKS. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- _________________ Keep it simple ...
