What is with you men? or What is it with you men?

I myself would say the second one.

Hi Detlef,

Yes, I agree that
Quote:
What is it with you men?
is the preferred choice. The reason is that 'is' needs a subject and that requires 'it'.

Thank you Alan!! Now, honestly dear, I started to think you were hibernating already(lol), I mean it's been so long!
Do you know why I asked this question? Well, yesterday, my granny was watching 'Dynasty' again and suddenly, Joan Collins said, I quote ' What is with you men?'

You know I don't like that Collins-woman anymore. When she first appeared in 'Dynasty', I thought she spoke beautifully British, but as time went by and the series' plot deteriorated, she was trying to sound American, but in my opinion she only partly succeeded in that.

Moreover, I like Stephanie Beacham better. She doesn't overact, whereas Collins definitely does.

Bye, bye
