Fabled = legendary; either existing in a fable, or famous because of a fable. These tests are not quite old enough to be fabled.

In this sentence, can I use notorious? What is the difference between famous and notorious?

'Notorious' is wrong here. 'Notorious' means 'famous for bad actions'.
