Retake an example... Is it used? #1 (permalink) Mon Nov 30, 2009 15:53 pm   Retake an example... Is it used?

I'm writing a thesis.

I've introduced an example, earlier in the thesis, about a banana.
Now, I want people to know I'll reuse that example. Can I write:

To illustrate this criterion, we can retake the banana example: ...

Is retake a commonly used word, for this kind of thing? The word "remember" doesn't really express what I want. I want to say I'll analyse the previous example.

Thanks.

"Retake" is a correct verb, but I do not think you should use it here. "Return to" sounds better.

You're right. "Revisit" is also a good alternative. Retake, not that much.

Thanks.
