i have read many grammar books and know why "did" is used but when it comes to speaking i don't understand where to use it,so please someone help me out..:(

Hi,

'Did' is the past tense of 'do' and is used both in negative and interrogative sentences in the past simple tense as in:

I didn't understand what he told me yesterday (negative)

Did you understand what he told you? (interrogative)
