It is better for children to grow up in the countryside than in a big city. Do you agree or disagree? Use specific reasons and examples to support your essay.

Countryside or big cities

Some people grow up their children in the countryside, and some others grow them in big cities; for example, Riyadh or New York. In my point of view, I prefer, to grow my children in the countryside rather than big cities for the following reasons.

First, a kid that had lived in the countryside would have better capabilities, skills and could handle more responsibility than a kid that had lived in the city. This is because, people that live in the countryside are mostly farmers and so they teach their kids on how to be patient, become responsible among themselves, and how to respect other people in the society with good manners. Whereas a kid that had lived in the city wouldn’t be taught to depend on himself, as there might be a possibility that the kid would have a maid at home to take care of him and a driver to pick him up from school.

Second, there might be some clubs in big cities that would influence a child manners due to the inappropriate actions that they might do; such as, relationships with other students. Therefore, a kid that had lived in the countryside would have a better personality, as well as better manners.

Third, students that live in a countryside might learn things that farmers do. In which they could benefit from in the future; for example, riding a horse and how to take care of different animals. Nevertheless, as there would many students in school classes in big cities, teachers might not have enough time to take care of all students. Therefore, some students would not be fully developed and educated. Whereas students that live in the countryside would ensure that they are fully educated due to the less number of students in the schools.

In conclusion, I believe that it would be more sophisticated for my kids and other kids to grow and live in countryside rather than big cities. This is because; they could ensure that they would mature both physically and mentally.

Not bad Emilly. Avoid using slang terms for children. This would definitely be frowned on in an examination. 3.5/5.00

Hello Bill
Thanks very much. I'm just a learner , I'll remain a learner, and I'm learning from you and the other native speakers and the teachers on these forums. My English is good as a non-native speaker, but, I'm still far from what I want to be. To be perfectly honest, all the time I use dictionaries, some other sources and searching on the Net for new things to make some suggestions for other learners or pass comments. I'm (we are) glad to have somebody like you who helps us with our English.
