Yes, I have a full day's work tomorrow. Because today was Sunday, Yokohama Chinatown was packed with tourists for the festivities! _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

| About TOEIC test I/set9/ex2 .I think that there is a little misleading in this test - "the swimmers are plunging into the water head first " ,but REMEMBER.Never slide head first. This can lead to submarining - plunging into the water and propelling right to the bottom of the pool. Unless your pool is very deep, you run the risk of hitting your head, possibly resulting in serious injury. |

Please provide a direct link to the question, Gregory.
The advice you offer is sound, but that does not necessarily make the test question wrong or misleading. _________________ Cheers m' dears! |

Merci Monsieur Beeesnees.

Mister Micawber says -- Why "the swimmers are plugging into the water head first" ?-- Plunging, not 'plugging'.' the head or the arms first ?-- We normally dive with our arms initially back but swung forward on the dive, so 'arms first'. Can I say "the people in the picture are throwing their arms down into the water?-- No. >>>>>> I can't say that this sentence is wrong.I'm only learner and I'm beginning to wonder why this sentence is correct. I understant Mister Micawber interpretation ,but I have question ---can I say ? ------- """ The swimmers are plunging into the water head first with both arms raised over head """ ----- ??? Thanks. |

Their arms are not raised over their heads, however, Gregory - their arms are stretched out in front of them. _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

| I don't think you can rephrase it like that, because then you change the meaning of the first idea. |
