How to understand this sentence?

Here is a sentence from Guardian:
The FA and bid chairman Lord Triesman said Beckham had made a tremendous impression: "He helps convey the passion in football and there is a patriotism that comes shining through and helps us convey the message that we have not had the World Cup since 1966 and there is a tremendous hunger to host the event – and who better to get that story across than David Beckham."
Can anyone be kind enough to explain me the last sentence? who better to get that story across than David Beckham.
Thanks.

Devid Beckman is the best person to tell the story.

Hey Davy,

dict.leo.org suggests to get sth. across means to give others an idea of something. Hence I´d explain it as follows: who is more able to give others an idea why to let the certain country (England as I guess) host the World Championchip than David Beckham.

But from what I know the English language there is a typo and it should read "-and who´s better........."

Do you guys think that there should be an "is" after Who? If who is better, it seems that a little bit conflict in the meaning.

No 'is'. The original is a common way to phrase it. There is an omission of 'would be', not 'is'.
