Explanation of two words: amazed vs amazing

how would you go about clarifying the differences for learners of English of the two words listed below:-

1) amazed
2) amazing

IMHO, amazed is used in a pasive voice, eg: I am amazed by the storyline of this book.

Amazing, on the other hand, is used in active voice. eg: The storyline of this book is amazing.

Amazing can be shown for someone, our feelings, and so on
