Vocabulary: My fate was sealed. #1 (permalink) Wed Dec 09, 2009 5:35 am   Vocabulary: My fate was sealed.

Hi there,

Is the expression: 'My fate was sealed' used in a negative or positive way. Or does it depend on the context of a sentence?

Here are two examples:

-My fate was sealed when I won two billion dollars. I never had to work again.
-My fate was sealed when my doctor told me I was incurably ill.

Thanks.

It sounds odd in a positive aspect, but I think neutral is OK: My fate was sealed when I enlisted in the Army. I would have a military career.

Hi Mister Micawber

I found another sentence, here it is:

- When the driver finally saw the bridge was out, he knew his fate was sealed.
