Can we use " I am understanding it", " I am hearing you".
I read somewhere understand, hear being verbs of perception are not to be used like that.
But I hear such usages often.

Hi bala9008,

I am understanding it could be used to mean "I am starting to understand, or am in the progress of understanding something"

I am hearing you can often be used by a person under stress; as a strong signal to another that what they are saying is being understood. But this can change depending on the origin of the English being spoken.

In different parts of the world English is spoken in different ways and often students will find that the original English language grammar rules and statements of use seem to be contradicted by what people actually speak.

Statements by people regarding the correct use of English are normally based on the English experience (meaning knowledge of differing use and not competence) of the person making the statement.

Language is alive!

Like Hamburg says, the continuous is not standard with those verbs; it gives them an extra shade of meaning, and is informal.
