Are these both correct:
1-Ever since the riot in the prison, I have been wondering if some prisoners are still alive. I mean my friends, Harry, Tom and Jack. I have had no news from them.
2-Ever since the riot in the prison, I have been wondering if some prisoners are still alive or if they were all killed.
The same sentence has two distinct meanings here and yet I think both are correct. In one case 'some' refers to a specific group of people and in the other case it could be replace by 'any'. Actually 2 would work better with 'any', but I don't think it is wrong as it is. |
