Please help me with the multiple choice exercise:
“I think we ought to see the rest of the exhibition as quickly as we can,……………that it closes in half an hour.”
A granted B assuming C given D knew
I choose A but the answer key is C
Which is correct?

D is wrong in any case.
I think B fits better than A.

Hi,

to complete the confusion I rather tend to B. Because given that provides the idea of taking into account which seems the most sensibel, at least to me.

Solution B might also be right because it has a similar meaning but to me sounds a bit more uncertain. Museems or public exhibitions usually have a certain time for daily end, I think. Hence there is no doubt when the doors are closed.

granted that or provided that might work as a reason for some happenings but not really work here, I´m afraid.

knew, to me, too, looks like the worst choice since firstly it´s past tense and secondly required a pronoun. and.... also my dict doesn´t provide any knew that expression. lol

But that are just my humble two pence. Let´s see what natives or professionals suggest.

Fan, don't you mean C in your first paragraph?: "given" is answer C. I agree with all you said.
