Hello!

Please check if the articles in this conversation are chosen correctly.

A: Have you got a ruler that I can borrow?
B: I've got a plastic one and a wooden one. But the wooden one is broken.
A: Well, lend me a plastic one then, please.

I have a doubt in the last sentence whether I had to use THE or A there.

Thanks a lot in advance.

The preceding sentences are OK, but the last sentence needs a "the" article, i.e., the thing that you want to borrow is already identified.

Thanks again. I shouldn't make two posts about one topic I guess. Anyway, thanks a lot, and here is the same thing that made me confused which is the answer in the Grammar Spectrum 3 is A for the last sentence. Could it be a typing mistake?

I agree with Harry. In this example, "a" in the last sentence would be right only if Mr. B had said "I've got plastic ones and wooden ones".
