Hi teacher,

I am not sure if there are any grammatical mistakes in the following sentence:
...
Last night, I was chatting with my good friend, Maria, on the phone.
Maria told me that she needs to finish her assignment first, so
she couldn't go shopping with me.

Please help, teachers.

Thank you

kitty

Maria told me that she needs[probably needed] to finish her assignment first[better remove first, since you appear to say that she can't go shopping at all, not even later]; so she couldn't go shopping with me. [The rest is fine.]

Please help, teachers.

Thank you
