Schools should ask students to evaluate their teachers. Do you agree or disagree? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
Students spend most of time with their teachers when they are at school. Chances are that they may have lot to say about their teachers. For the students who want to give their teachers some advices but are frightened to say in such a face-to-face way and those who want to be the real host of the school, evaluation offers the great opportunity. Besides, teacher themselves can also be the beneficiaries in this format.
Since the students spend most of their time with their teachers at school, they are the ones who know their teachers most. Especially the students who study in a boarding school, teachers can be somewhat like parents. Because of that, the evaluation given by the students can reflex the truth most. Giving the evaluation of the teacher anonymously, students are daring to say anything, whether good or bad, that cannot be said in a face-to-face way. Undoubtly, this makes a school more democratic.
Another advantage of the format is that teacher can be informed about what impression they have in students' mind. They can know what aspects they are praised by their students and what others have not been done enough. When being told of these, teachers are given an incentive, just like a steam locomotive full of evaporation, to improve themselves, whatever in the knowledge field or in their behavior. This is like a race, and nobody want to be left behind or even lose in it .
The most significant merit of this evaluation is that it makes the students feeling that they are the real host of the school. Such terrific experience have never appeared in their dream, let along in the virtual world. They can give the appraisals of their teachers, saying anything that they are satisfied with or disappointed at. By doing this, students are offered the opportunity to participate in their school operation and can be much more willing to put forward their advanced and creative suggestion to help the management of school, while at the same time this let them be more strong-minded and gain the leadership which is necessary in their future.
From all of the above, I should say that providing the students with chance to evaluate their teachers benefit not only to the students themselves and the teachers, but also to the school. Thus, this can a decision ever made by the school full of wisdom.
