The snow fell thick and fast for most of the night. It filled the streets in deep drifts, and the cars look like huge primaeval beasts, all lined up one behind the other. The little children will have to walk knee-deep through, what to them, is a Winter wonderland, but for the folk who need their cars to get to work, the snow is not really that welcome.
I was out and about at five o'clock, and I was the first to walk the virgin snow-covered trail, my huge giant-like footprints leaving an easy passage for others to follow. There are usually many other elderly dog-owners that we pass on our early-morning walks, but today we were the only visitors to the snow-covered trail.
The trees!... what can one say about those majestic snow-bedecked monoliths? They looked amazing in the breaking light. Absolutely breath-taking! Had it not been so cold I would have stood and viewed them for longer than I did. We headed back home to the warmth of the house and stripped off our wet clothing, before enjoying our breakfasts. There are even further falls of snow forecast for today, so somehow I don't think that I will be far from my keyboard most of the day, except for three-thirty, when once again we will be "hitting the trail," as usual.
