m giving my exam on 19 hav done only 28 lists i will b able to do barrons max is tht enough.....
m planning to do only one passage in the exam
as doing any more is simply a waste of time..../

For Vocab Barrons is enough, thats what I felt after giving my exam...coz i did not study words from any other source as thouroughly as I did Barrons...I would advice dont take the risk of doing only one passage....each question in the GRE is very important...there may be some easy question which you may miss out this way...just plan your time beforehand...because if you get them wrong it will affect what kind of questions u will get then onwards...some of the passages are unduly long.. ..but i guess we have to manage that...so best of luck..

Hey Vineeta,

just wondering if you got your AW score. I gave GRE two weeks ago and still haven't got my AW score, and my uni tells me i cannot apply without it, although they'll get the scores anyway.

i gave toefl too a week back.. so i'm waiting for their scores..
do they mail the scores by post? coz i'm tired of waiting now!

How do they appear I mean can u please tell me the sequence in which the sections are thrown at u??

i am not able to answer most of the questions rightly....i tried skimming and speed reading techniques but they dont seem to work too well....How many passages did u do uerself? how did u prepare for passages section and from wat resources?...

I got my AW score by post almost 3 weeks after I gave the exam....I gave my TOEFL on Dec 2....still havent got the essay score....I guess they take 3 weeks in sending it to us(I think the univs receive it earlier)....even im anxious for the result..
send your completed application to your univ on time...anyways the scores will hav to reach thru ETS...u must have requested your scores to b sent at time of application...

Dont worry....u wont realise how time flies once u sit at the exam...i had 2 quant..I did not even realise that I had completed 2 quant....its better than having to read 6 passages (dont u think)...as for the sequence of sections..

1. Issue topic
2. Argument topic
3. Verbal
4. Verbal(if u are getting 2 verbal)/ Quant if u are getting 2 quant
5. Quant
6. Research section (optional)

This is on the basis of my experience...it is possible that they give you quant first, between verbal and quant...basically the experiment section comes with other similar one...if you know the basic structure dont worry bout the sequence

Id suggest atleast do two RCs sincerely..I had dun all three...

Thanks a lot vineeta for your prompt response. I am an Engineer but still U know I am not good at aptitude tests.And the reason i am worrying about my stamina is that I am applying for a program which only cares about my quant score. so I need to get max in quant as possible. my exam is on 27th after the testing center cancelled all the scheduled tests 2 times before.

Can you give me some last minute tips on Quant. Also do u know if Geometric Progression and AP are in scope of GRE???

Hi Supriya!

Dont worry about learning many formulae i dont think u need to stress much on GP & AP...
In general I found that the quant section involved a fair deal of quick calculations(not tough ones) so the trick is practice...practice and more practice...take timed tests to improve your speed and to test your stamina....

I have done 30 lists uptil now but i dont think i will be able to complete tht lists so i am thinking of stopping at wat i have dont...i am getting a score of 730-780 in quant consistantly and 400-450 in verbal do u think i will be able to get admission on that....Plus if I concentrate on Toefl I may get a very good score in that.....ZAAlso tell me how to look for Universities U apply to...My exan is on 19th jan

I wanted to know how many days does it takes (say an average person in terms of vocabulary) to prepare for GRE.
I can do the math part as I have done my masters in telecom Can u suggest some specific ready strategy to adopt (say in terms of hours per day or week and how many weeks)

I would be giving it in the month of march For quant section I feel one should just go through the High School math once and solve as much problems as possible and it doesn't bore you as the mugging of words does That's why I wanted to know the pattern of study for Vocabulary building Is there no alternative to remembering words. Can anyone suggest some good & interesting book for this
