Hi!
For my test preparation I used a set of practice tests that my freind had passed down to me....there are also tests available online...giving the tests makes you familiar with the questions and the format so its not so difficult at the time of the actual test. I relied on the Barrons' book for vocabulary building...log on to www.number2.com for some good practice on both maths and english...and also keep giving the english tests available on this site itself....before giving the retest try and work out the time that you will devote on each type of question so that you can give each question its due time....it is said that the first 8-10 questions carry the maximum weight so try to get them right....now that you have given the test once..atleast you dont have the uncertainity about the test environment....so dont worry...just do your best

Hi Jayashree!
I have just started my application processing.... First of all we need to shortlist the universities....search lots of univs to select the best course before coming down to the few..Im not applying to many...around 5...as compared to 8-10 univs my freinds had applied to last time... As suggested by one of my freinds im first compiling all the details about different universities I intend to apply to..like the courses, application deadlines, requirements(SOP, recommendation letter, transcripts etc.) In the mean time also start on your Statement of Purpose and Recommendation letter..in case ur recommender asks u to give a draft..as mine did... Im applying for Mastersin Urban & Regional Planning with concentration in 'Economic Development'..gotta still finalise my univ list..Im thinking of Iowa, Illinois etc. At the centre which I gave the exam...no one gave the research section..coz it carried no marks...but I thought Id rather give it.... Its been more than two weeks since I gave my exam...havent yet recieved the AW score or my percentile....im still waiting.. Tell me if u know of universities where there is a probability of scholarship.. Best of Luck Keep in touch

hey guys.. first of all, thanks for making this forum so lively!
if any of you prepared from Barrons, would you please tell me how the real exam was compared to Barrons?
Because i personally feel Barrons is kinda intimidating. There is NO WAY i can score 1300+ if i get an exam like the ones in barrons.
hope you guys reply! |

Hi!
I did prepare from Barrons...and I feel that the actual exam was a bit simpler than Barrons in terms of Vocab question....but I found the quant questions equally tricky...but dont b afraid...i managed to get a decent score in quant (730)...even though i felt i hadnt performed well in quant....I stuck to the Barron's vocab list for my preparation and was happy that it helped me in the exam... another tip....b sure to give enuf time to your reading comprehension questions....the passage might seem long but just bear it for a while..
I hope this helps.... n Best of Luck for ur exam..

they thanks for the reply Vineeta
i've pretty much mastered the Barron's vocab list but i'm still not comfy with that
do you think Barron's vocab list would be enough for the exam? |

Hi!
I think the Barron's word list is sufficient.....i personally did not find any word in the exam which i hadnt seen in the Barron's wordlist....I was satisfied with that....i went thru other lists and found that they generally add more words but easier ones so its infact a wastage of time...Barrons' worked for me n i hope it does for u! the important part is to differentiate between the finer shades of meaning of seemingly easy words ....so do atleast one list thoroughly...

Hi!
Regarding Barrons....i found the questions of vocab simpler..but frankly speaking ...the quant was a little tricky and different (mayb coz im not so gud at maths) I found the reading passage pretty long .....and having to read three of them was pretty tough..so practice reading comprehension so that you can read faster and save your time....Instead of concentrating on word list ..practice sample tests from net and powerprep in the last few days.... The marks I got were definately higher than what I got in Barrons or any other test...but I guess it is because of the adaptive nature of the tests....i think definately you will score higher if you manage your time well on the test....give timed tests during the last few days....and be confident...everyone's in the same boat....your confidence level will affect how well you give the test.. Best of Luck.... Tell your score and your experience after the test.... Vineeta |
