Hi,

"to get" with the simple past "got" here means to receive or to be given something
while "to become" means to start to be (as in "become a father", "become cold", "become fat"...).
Became is the simple past of "to become".

It's - at least in German, I don't know about other languages - a "false friend".

Here "got" is the correct answer as you received the presents on your birthday.
