Watching English language TV channels in Europe? #1 (permalink) Wed Dec 30, 2009 23:15 pm   Watching English language TV channels in Europe?

Hi, has anyone of you any experience in watching English language TV channels in Germany or any other European country? As for me, I only have access to CNN Europe and BBC World which I watch through the ASTRA satellite. There must be more channels such as Sky via other satellites. Any suggestions?

Good morning Torsten. I rarely watch TV nowadays. I have a huge dish and a Panasonic digi-box with a FTV (free to view) card.

I can access all channels, with the exception of SKY, which is only by subscription, which I am in no position to afford.

Kitos.

Good morning Bill. Thanks a lot for your response. Would it be possible for you to list all the English language channels you have access to? Also, how many LNB's does your dish have and how many satellites does it receive signals from?

Dear Torsten, I am able to receive;
BBC 1
BBC 2
BBC 4
CHANNEL 5
ITV.
ITV 2

I'm sure that there are more, but I haven't bothered to check them all out.

A lot of other English speaking channels, as well as News channels from around the World.

The are 999 channels in total, with very few (about 10%) inaccessible.

I've an 80 cm. dish.
The digi-box came from EBay along with the card, which together cost 220GBP.
The dish, inc LNB, plus fitting, was 700 Euros.
The TV cost 259 Euros.

Cost a fortune, but at the time I was desperate to see some English TV. :-))

I haven't looked at it in over nine months. I find TV so very boring.

Bill.
