Alan has raised a very personal subject. That of your making a resolution for the start of the New Year.

This resolution can embrace many mundane things such as stopping smoking, losing weight, or helping more around the house.
This type of resolution can easily be broken without a seconds thought.
It may cause a humorous remark to be bandied around for a few days, but it is quickly forgotten about.
It is in no way a life-changing commitment.

What I would like you all to do is make a resolution that will be life-changing for you.
Forget the difficulties and hardship that this resolution may bring.
Promise yourself that you will succeed this year.
That you will look backward next year at this time and congratulate yourself on how well you have done.

Sure, it will be difficult, but if it were easy everyone would succeed.
Are you willing to make this commitment for a better life, both for yourself and your family?

Give it some thought.
Is it worth the effort?

You know it is!

In all seriousness, you are the one that I should be thanking, for reinforcing my intent to
turn out the best possible candidates for the TOEFL tests.

The pupils here either have the ability to succeed or not. I merely water the soil and hope for a bloom.
