borne itself out, and put to the fire #1 (permalink) Sun Jan 03, 2010 6:41 am   borne itself out, and put to the fire

- I continued to live with my philosophy and it has borne itself out through every circumstances of my life, even when what I believe has been put to the fire, sometimes on a daily basis.

Could someone explain these to me? Thanks!

You probably made a typing error, since it should be "circumstance", singular.

- To bear something out
= to confirm something, to prove something
- To put to the fire = to torture (with fire), to subject to great hardships or harsh tests

I kept to my philosophy, and it has proved its strength/worth/truth under all circumstances during my life, even when what I believe was very seriously challenged, which sometimes happened every day.
