English Learning Software for German Speakers #1 (permalink) Thu Jan 07, 2010 19:10 pm   English Learning Software for German Speakers

Hello everyone,

I've just received this email from good friend of mine and could use some advice:

"Quick question: My fathers birthday is soon, and my grandmother wants to give him a selflearning english course as a present. So my mum asked me for recommendation, but I never taught English - but you did :)
So I am looking for something which he can use on the computer (reading, listening, writing, but especially speaking). He is not a complete beginner, but also not advanced - he studied English at school, but long time ago...
Can you recommend something?"

Her father is a well educated (retired uni professor) in Jena. I remember having students in Germany who had various handheld and computer-based software they liked for learning English, but I don't know the names of them or which ones are better or worse.

Could anyone make any recommendation?
