| Thank you for reply. You mean you even go to the bookstore,20 killmeters away from your home? Sometimes we make a big effort to get what you want,,. I have read Harry Potter and the sorcerer's stone 2 nights before. Actually I've got one from a host family in America 8 years ago. Once a year or so I read it, and not finished yet and a third still is left. I've seen its movie, so when I was reading it, I could imagine the situation and characters. I don't think it's good. There are lots of difficult words, so if I want to fully understand the story, I have to use a dictionary so many times and it takes much time. I've heard original Harry potter is written in British English and it is translated into American English for American. it is interesting. I haven't thought such a big difference is between them enough to be translated. You can see twilight saga's author's comment for Amazon.com on amazon.com. The English is so fast that I couldn't fully understand, but I think her speech is interesting. |

Hi Claudia, hi everyone,
I've just finished the 2nd book about the Kousmine method of nutrition. This one is a medium book about healthy diet. I got a confirm from the book that I've been already doing a good diet, but it enriched further my cooking style and gave me many useful tips. At the moment I'm reading the 3rd book entitled "Save your body" by the founder Katherine Kousmine herself. It's really a great book, very profound and scientific. During this reading time, I decided that I'll continue to master this subject and...I'd like to do a proper research on this field !

Hello Everlasting_Love,
yes, the bookstore is worth the trip. Although, driving there isn't the problem, but finding a parking spot is!
I would like to encourage you to keep reading Harry Potter, even if it is difficult for you. To learn many new words might be strenuous, but it is definitely worth the effort. You will be rewarded with a broader vocabulary and a better understanding of the language. You can check on the Merriam Webster website how the new words are pronounced.
You're doing a good job.

Hello Huong,
nice to hear that you are enjoying the Kousmine books. Is there anything you like in particular? Is there anything that you don't agree with and would like to critique? I'm awfully curious, am I not? lol

Hello and welcome Ismail,
in a nutshell, I think reading novels and non-fiction books is important because you learn new words, new ways to express yourself, conversational skills if the story contains dialogs, and it broadens your horizon. It is also good to discuss a book once you have finished reading it, because that will help you to deepen your newly gained knowledge and to work through it mentally.

Hi Claudia,
Curiosity helps us learn and know more about the world, it's a value to be appreciated :)
I really like the Kousmine books. I'm still reading the last one, it's a big and serious book. It's about biology and biochemistry, so very scientific. What I like most is that Kousmine herself had cured many degenerative diseases, saved many people back from hospitals & clinics without much of hope by changing their alimentary habit and lifestype (the book shows many real cases). This method teaches you how to utilize natural elements and prevent you from potential future diseases by correcting your eating & cooking habit, of course without using modern phamarcies.Do you see that many degenerative diseases are more common in industrialized countries rather than in developing-rural countries ? That's because the marketing world wide has been convincing wealthy people that instant and refined foods are better to eat : they are presented with art and they look so charming, don't they ? On the other hand, they are more convenient since they are quite ready to eat and require less time to cook or prepare. The marketing always says what you wish to hear : you are too busy and you need more time for entertainment, less time for cooking...
The scientist Kousmine showed by her researching and experiences that the more original & natural the food, the better it is for your health. We should eat big portions of green vegetables, fruit, germs...everyday; intergral cereals, legumes...often (2, 3 times/week); reasonable portions of fish, less meat as possible; No cow milk, cheeses & relevant stuff. Of course there are scientific proofs for all this. One interesting example is about the wonderful health and longevity of Hunza people, a small mountainous population living in a dead-end valley of the Hymalayas.
The book also tell us to take our proper responsibility for our health, no longer pass it comfortably to our doctors and pharmaceutical companies. The last ones mentioned don't really think for your health, but just to sell as much pharmacy as possible and enrich themselves. Don't you agree ?
At the moment I haven't found yet any thing to critique...I know a few lines I'm writing are not enough to tell you as much as I would like about these wonderful books, but just to let you have an idea about what the Kousmine books are about.

Hello Huong,
thank you for your detailed review. It gives me a very good idea of what the Kousmine diet is about. In answer to your questions: I agree that people eat too much processed food. It's okay to do it every once in a while, but it should never become a way of life. I also think that nutrition plays a large role in a person's health. The only advice I couldn't follow is to avoid milk and milk products. I need to eat my cereal with milk, and since I live at a high latitude, I need fish and milk for Vitamin D. :-)

Hello Sura,
thank you for your recommendation. Oliver Twist is quite a classic. I believe they even made a movie out of it, or is it a series?
